    SUPPORT SERVICES DECLARATION

With the personal information you have entered we are able to: provide healthcare professional services and nursing support to you in person or by phone, text, email or post, process your service request and keep you informed about it, provide healthcare guidance on a regular basis by phone, text, email or post to support you with information about your condition and tips on how to manage it, connect you with healthcare professionals and/or clinical services if we uncover a need for medical advice or treatment during our interactions, store the information you provide to us and manage your chosen preferences in order to process your service request and understand how people are using our products so we can improve them and develop new ones. We typically ask for your: name, email address and phone number. Depending on your request we might further ask you for your: postal address, medical details, healthcare provider details (sensitive data), gender, age, body shape/type. For more detailed information please read our full privacy and data policy.

    HOW WE USE PERSONAL INFORMATION

If you’re ordering a product, request contact or service from us, including a free sample, we’ll use the contact information you give us to send, track and deliver your items. We may also call you to check you’ve received your order and answer any questions you may have about it. If you’ve chosen a support service, we’ll need your personal data so that our team can provide the relevant service – either in person, by phone (incl. text) or through post or email. We may also need your payment details so that we can process your payment, reimbursement or refund, if needed. The medical needs of people are typically different, and we’ve designed products to support gender specific needs. That’s why we ask about your gender, age and body shape/type to help us suggest the best suitable products and services and understand your individual needs. We also use the information you share with us to help us understand our customers, their medical conditions and their needs when treating them. This helps us to improve our products and services and to develop new ones. We will only process this data on an aggregated level.

WHO WE SHARE YOUR INFORMATION WITH

We may also share your information with legitimate third parties if it is required to fulfil your request. For example, we share information with health care professionals if we identify a medical need during our conversations with you. If we identify a medical need we’ll discuss it with you before speaking to your healthcare provider. Subject to applicable law, you will always be informed before we share any personal information with health care professionals, unless the data sharing is with the NHS, in which case you will not be notified. Under exceptional circumstances, we might share your data with public authorities. This could be, for example, when we are required to share data with tax authorities when products or services are invoiced, or when government bodies audit services in the healthcare market to ensure patients receive appropriate products/services. Subject to applicable law, you will always be informed before we share any personal information in such circumstances, unless the data sharing is with the NHS, in which case you will not be notified.

    HOW WE PROTECT INFORMATION

If we need to share your information, we will anonymise it – unless it’s necessary to process your request, for example, to help your healthcare provider to reimburse your costs. We also restrict access to your personal information within Coloplast, so that our employees can only access the data they need to see and nothing else. And we do not sell data to third parties.

    Connect with a Patient Educator

I am 59 years old and have been married to my wonderful wife, Sue since 2007.

We each have two children from previous marriages, two 30-year-olds and two 29-year-olds!
In 2012 I was diagnosed with Prostate cancer. I had the entire Prostate removed, but unfortunately there was also an element of nerve damage during the operation.

This resulted in suffering erectile dysfunction. It also lead to severe depression and put a huge strain on my relationships, particularly my marriage.

None of the ‘usual’ medications worked, so towards the end of 2015.

I took the decision to get a penile implant. It was not a decision taken lightly and was made with the full support of my wife. I haven’t looked back since. It has given me back my sense of manhood and self-worth.

My career has generally been in the sales and marketing sector, which latterly, until COVID came to pass, centred around the events industry. 2020 has been difficult to say the least (as it obviously has everyone!) but has proven to be strangely rewarding. With none of my usual clients operating and no prospect of the resurrection of any shows, conferences or events, I was forced to look for alternative employment. I have spent my time managing a mobile COVID testing unit, based in and around Peterborough UK.

Again, this plays to and reinforces my sense of self-worth and fulfilment.

I am now looking to enter semi-retirement. My wife and I have spent the past 18 months renovating an old American RV and plan, COVID permitting, to head off to warmer climes in the coming months. We will both continue to conduct some fund-generating activities, thanks to a robust broadband setup.

    * Coloplast ambassador Andy has been compensated for his time spent consulting and sharing his experience.

Clare completed her Msc in Nursing and is a non-medical prescriber. She has experience of running tertiary referral nurse led clinics in erectile dysfunction offering patients pharmacological treatments, as well as counselling patients for penile prosthesis surgery and managing their care post operatively.

In 2020 Clare was runner up “ Nurse of the year 2020 British Journal of Nursing Awards”.
